Creative Critical Reflection on Jansport Commercial

Image
 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Jansport is the brand for which I created a commercial. In my commercial, I demonstrated that the majority of individuals own a Jansport bag, which I would agree with in real life. I took advantage of this to demonstrate that Jansport is a trustworthy brand. My commercial depicts kids using Jansport backpacks in their school lives; in my commercial, the joyful students have Jansport bags, but the sad lonely student does not; thus, they assist him and give him a Jansport bag, making everyone happy. 2.  How does your product engage with the audience and how would it be distributed as a real media text? The target demographic for my Jansport ad would be any student. Showing that kids at school are happy with their Jansports, helping out others who don't have one, and demonstrating that they have no difficulties with it encourages that audience to buy the product. In the actual wor

My Jansport Commercial Blog

My first big project for AICE Media was very successful. I learned many new skills. I learned a lot about team work, while working with my partner, Sophia, there were challenges we needed to overcome but we worked together to get through it. I also learned new things about acting and Sophia taught me a lot about filming and editing. At the beginning I thought filming a commercial was going to be hard but with the help of my teachers, class mates and my partner, I was able to do it.  The skills I learned will help me in the future. My favorite part was filming the last scene when everyone walks away together happily with Jansport backpacks, it was very happy scene and because it was the final one it added to the happiness. My least favorite part was drawing the storyboard, I am not the best at drawing so I told Sophia my ideas and she drew them out. Even though it was a little challenging along the way, my first film was fun to make. This will help a lot in my future films, since we f

Editing blog #2 Choosing the background music

Today was our second and last day of editing. At the beginning of class everything had been completed execpt choosing the background music and finishing touches. We finished our final Jansport commercial today. While Sophia worked on finishing touches I choose the background music. It was difficult finding the perfect background sound. At first I looked on iMovie since they have sounds that automatically attach to the video, I looked through all the different sound. There was a few that I liked but I decided to look for more on youtube. I looked up 'upbeat background music' and many different videos came up. The first one I clicked on was good but I though it was a little too upbeat. The second one I found was too calming so I kept looking. I looked though many sounds and none of them were perfect. Then I found the perfect one it wasn't too calming and it wasn't too upbeat. I asked my partner, Sophia, what she thought about the sound. Sophia did not like it, she though

Editing my Jansport Commercial

Image
Today was my first day of editing. I am better at acting so I played the main role in the commercial. Sophia, my partner, has great filming and editing skills so she played the main part today. We used an app called iMovie to edit our commercial. Since all of the filming was done on my phone I decided it made the most sense to edit on my phone too. Sophia did most of the hands on editing while I made suggestions. First, some of the clips needed adjusting, so while Sophia made sure they were the right length, I cropped them to make each scene perfect. All of the clips were also looking a little dull so I decided to add some brightness and a filter to it so it would look happier and brighter. Sophia and I had a difference in opinion on what filter we should use. I thought the super bright one looked better while she liked the one that was a little darker. We settled on one that was in between and it turned out to be the perfect brightness giving a happy effect. Then it was time to put a

Filming Blog #2 Jansport Commercial

Our second day of filming was a lot more work and more stressful. Since on day one of filming we only got through the first three scenes, today we were supposed to finish the last three scenes. My partner, Sophia, was the camera women, she shot all the scenes and got the perfect angles while I was the main actor. We forgot that everyone in the original first three clips had to be wearing the same clothes both days or else it would not look right, so we had to reshoot everything today because everyone was wearing different clothes. We still needed extra people for our commercial since we are a group of 2, so we asked Ella, Darrow and Lucas to help. Ella and Darrow had a lot of work for their own project they had to finish first, so we had to wait for them. Lucas had nothing to do so we had him do his part first. He acted as the helpless student without a Jansport backpack. There was one scene where he is alone so we completed that one first while we were waiting for Ella and Darrow to
